Crossfit Acronyms And Terms

Today we are going over some common acronyms and terminology that are found in a Crossfit gym. If you are just getting started in Crossfit or have friends who talk about it you can have a better understanding of what people are talking about.

Box: A Crossfit gym

WOD: Workout of the Day

Rep: Repetition, one time through a movement.

Set: A group of repetitions

AMRAP: As Many Reps/Rounds As Possible, these are usually done in a given time frame.

EMOM: Every Minute on the Minute, with this you are typically given a set number of reps for a movement that you complete within’ the minute, once finished with the reps you rest until the top of the minute.

Rx: as prescribed, doing the workout as it was written.

The Girls: These are challenging workouts given ladies names.

Hero workout: These are very challenging workouts in honor of individuals who have fallen in the line of Duty.

PR: Personal Record.
