Selfish Sunday: Thank you=Thank me

You work hard, take a little time for yourself. It’s okay to be selfish every once in a while, in fact it's a necessity unless you want to crash and burn (which you don’t...that’s no bueno). So each Sunday, I’m going to help you be a little selfish and give you an idea of something you can do to relax and take a little break from the chaos of life.

It’s January 14th, do you know what today is?!? NO?...It’s another day you’re alive and breathing and able to move that wonderful body of yours, so it’s a great day! Take some time today to reflect on all the positive things in your life. Think about the people you are surrounded with that are supportive and loving. Appreciate that you have a roof over your head, clothes to keep you warm, and enough food in your belly. As you reflect, pick out one person and write a little Thank You note/card to them. It doesn’t need to be a novel, perhaps just a couple sentences letting them know how much you appreciate having them in your life.

Now you might be thinking, how is writing someone else a thank-you note being selfish? Well stick with me here...it will actually make YOU feel good! Feeling appreciation and gratitude actually makes you happier. It’s proven, probably by many different studies throughout many years in many countries, but really just try it out yourself. Then if you still feel like you need a little more self gratification for your good deed, eat a piece of chocolate and pat yourself on the back.
