Throwback Thursday: What Happens After The Open

-During The Open-

We see many victories during the Open. The workouts gave us plenty of opportunity to see a couple firsts. 18.1, first Toes-to-Bar 18.2a, the heaviest clean you have ever stood up 18.3, first double unders, ring muscle ups, bar muscle ups 18.4, first handstand PushUp - given that tough standard 18.5, first chest-to-bar Once the Open is finished we tend to go back to our normal thing in the gym. People do not develop their new skill anymore. There may be a couple reasons why, it might not appear in the workouts enough, or if it does there might be too many reps. Or you know that this movement is still a big challenge and you have enough excuses to not work on it. And then another year goes by and surprise we're ramping up for the 2019 Open and you've done nothing.

-After The Open-

Here is what we do next. Evaluate your performance through out the Open. Where can you improve? Trying to be faster in a workout, start pushing yourself harder each week. Trying to get stronger or develop a new skill, pick one movement at a time, set a SMART goal (this can be done with your head coach, schedule your meeting now), and work on it at least twice a week until you get it. Then move onto the next goal. If you're unsure how achieve your goal talk to a coach, if it is more technical schedule a one-on-one session with a coach.

Happy Training!
