Motivation Monday- What is your "Why"-Jasi O'Connor

Each and everyone of us walked through the door at EHP for a different reason. The reason "WHY" is unique to us as individuals. What you don't know is your "WHY" might be the motivation for someone else to start or even continue walking through the door.

Why do you Crossfit?

I was tired of doing the same old thing in group fitness class at the Y, so I started working with a personal trainer. I loved focusing on lifting weights and learning new movements, but it was expensive. One of my friends invited me to a Saturday team WOD at another CrossFit box, and I thought it was fun. But I was intimidated by CrossFit - especially the tire flipping and other "crazy" things that go on. But I met with Karla and she assured me (like I'm sure she has so many others) that you ease into it, so I decided to give it a try. It was so much better than personal training because I could come as much as I wanted and I was doing something different every day.

What motivates you to continue?

I love learning and doing new things in the gym. I have learned since I've been at EHP that a lot of my limitations are mental and with the right attitude and the right coaching, those obstacles can be overcome. I'm also a total data nerd -- I love seeing how I'm getting better week by week. And finally, while it was never important to me before, I love the community aspect of EHP. Showing up at class and knowing the other athletes, being able to joke around, looking at Wodify to see who is going to be there -- those things all keep me showing up. Plus, the coaches at EHP are amazing - I can't imagine being anywhere else.
